Tabla
The Tabla (Hindi: तबला, তবলা, Urdu: تبلہ tablā) is a popular Indian percussion instrument used in the classical, popular and religious music of the Indian subcontinent and in Hindustani classical music. The instrument consists of a pair of hand drums of contrasting sizes and timbres. No one knows who invented Tabla, but it showed up in musical scene about 250 years ago. The word Tabla is Arabic for drum, but the Tabla, as we think of it, is purely of North Indian origin. It is commonly believed to have been derived from a barrel shaped drum known as Pakhawaj.
Dhol
The Dhol (Punjabi: ਢੋਲ, ڈھول; Hindi: ढोल; Pashto: ډهول; Urdu: ڈھول) dohol (Persian: دهل), is a drum (a percussion musical instrument) widely used in the Indian subcontinent, especially the Punjab region, and especially among the Sikhs of East Punjab. The introduction of Dhol was influced from a drum called Nagra, during the Mogul empire in the 16th century. Apart from Punjab, Dhol has been adapted into the music of other regions throughout South Asia and abroad including: Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra. Nowadays, it is very popular in modern Punjabi music.
